COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES...

  • Crystal Light Therapy

Crystals are powerful healing tools and in this treatment are used during a wonderful guided meditation to cleanse and balance your energy centres, called chakras. A crystal massage follows which revives and restores the body and in addition, Native American Indian smudging techniques are used to purify the body and clear the build up of negativity that we accumulate in our daily lives. Trained by renowned Patricia Edge, the originator, known as the ‘Crystal Woman’ in America.

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a healing therapy based on the ancient principles of acupuncture and is proving to be dramatically effective. This psychotherapeutic tool works using the theory that the negative emotions which follow a negative experience disturb the body's energy field and that tapping on the meridians while thinking about the negative emotion rebalances the electromagnetic energy field, reprogramming and clearing the imbalance.

It may seem bizzare that tapping certain points can produce dramatic results but in practice this therapy can reduce healing time from months or years down to minutes or hours. You can learn to do this technique yourself and once mastered you can apply it throughout your life, to improve your health and gain contol of your emotions.

The Emotional Freedom Techniques concept was developed in the US in the 1990's by Gary Craig. EFT roots are in acupuncture, kinesiology and psychology. EFT is now spreading very rapidly in the US and in the UK, where the concept is now used in some specialist areas of the National Health Service.

  • Homeopathy

What is homeopathy ?

Homeopathy has been around for over 250 years and was first discovered by a German doctor called Samuel Hahnemann.  It is a gentle but powerful form of medicine that works by stimulating the body’s own immune system into healing itself.

How does it work ?

The basic principle of homeopathy is ‘like cures like’.  An example would be if you were to develop a cold with streaming eyes and a sore nose you might well be prescribed Allium Cepa which is more commonly known as the onion.  If you peel an onion your eyes water and your nose runs and so we have similar symptoms to that of your cold.  Hahnemann discovered that if you gave minute quantities of a substance (onion) that caused  similar effects to the symptoms that you are suffering (runny nose and streaming eyes) then this would stimulate an immune response in your body which would then start to ease and finally cure the symptoms of the cold.

It treats the ‘whole person’ and not just the illness and takes into account past and present illnesses, emotional and physical well being, likes and dislikes and family history.

Where do the remedies come from ?

The remedies that we use come from the animal, vegetable and mineral world and are all natural.  Even some poisons are used as homeopathic remedies because they are used in such small minute doses and diluted thousands of times they are completely harmless and yet are still able to cure.

Because they are so safe to use without any side effects, they can be used alongside any conventional medication given to you by your doctor.  They are also safe to use for more vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, babies, children  the elderly or infirm.

What can it treat ?

Just about anything, be it on the physical, mental or emotional level, such as:-

Eczema                                         Colds/flu

Asthma                                         Depression

Impetigo                                       Insomnia

Chronic cough                              Anxiety

Menopause symptoms                 OCD

Cystitis                                         IBS

Rheumatism                                 Arthritis

  • Kinesiology

Western style muscle testing, anatomy and physiology, combines with traditional Chinese acupuncture, meridians and energy balancing in Kinesiology treatments. Goal setting can be used with specific energy points targeted on the body to clear negative conditioning and replace with positive thought patterns, resulting in increased health of mind, body and spirit.

  • Kneipp Hydrotherapy

Hot & cold wraps and packs are used to clear inflammation, stimulate healing and restore homeostasis to the body. Techniques designed by the famous Sebastian Kneipp, treat conditions by balancing the autonomic nervous system activity.

  • Myofascial Release

  • Sports Massage

This is hands on massage, using essential oils which are applied to the skin. It is a most effective tool for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system.

It is used to increase blood flow, mobilise fluids, stimulate peripheral nerves and break down waste products, lesions and scar tissue. It can be very effective in seperating and stretching muscle fibres and accelerating recovery from exercise.

Received regularly this may help athletes prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.

  • Sports Thai Massage

What are the special benefits of Thai yoga massage?

Thai massage is performed on the floor on your clothed body and involves exquisite stretches which eliminate tension, improve flexibility, enhance sports performance and help to maintain a pain-free healthy body.

Thai massage is designed to stretch every accessible muscle a little more than it normally would under the action of strongly contracting antagonistic muscles. It is a highly effective therapy for treating a range of pathological conditions of the musculo-skeletal system such as lower back pain, sciatica, fibrositis etc.

Thai massage and sports injuries

Most sports injuries involve damage to muscle fibres, myofascia or tendons and they are commonly caused by overuse of muscles that are not functionally balanced with other muscles in their group and with their antagonists.

Thai massage therapy enables every individual muscle to assume its normal relaxed length when not contracting.

When injury does occur the controlled stretches and manipulations in Thai massage have an unrivalled ability to speed healing and restore pain-free function.

Sports Thai Massage provides maintenance that muscles need, improving performance by reducing the risk of injury for athletes and dancers during their training.

  • Usui Reiki Healing

Reiki is the channelling of life force energy which naturally flows through each one of us. Stress, worry, physical injury etc. disturb and restrict the flow of electro-magnetic energy in the body and this creates dis-ease. Reiki restores harmony and balance, facilitating personal growth and well-being, restoring peace of mind, body and spirit. Louise Segui is a Reiki Master-Teacher, training Reiki students in levels 1-4.
